What Makes A Smartphone So Smart?
Are you like a lot of people that feel left behind in the fast paced techno savvy world? Devices come and go so fast, technologies get replaced so quickly. Sometimes it feels that the devices you buy today will be obsolete in a year or so.
Without exaggeration, new and improved generations of the gadgets you buy today seem to pop up every two years, a lot of people feel so obligated to upgrade or buy the newer ones, only to find that after some time they will have to buy even newer versions. This is applicable not only to phones but also to other hardware and software. Now one such new device that has gained popularity is the smartphone. But what exactly is a smartphone anyway?
Smartphones are the new catch word in the mobile phone industry. The trend of course is to combine so many devices or functionalities in one smart package. But not all phones that have cameras and mp3 playing capabilities can be called a smartphone. Perhaps the two most popular smartphones are the Apple iPhone and the Blackberry Storm.
If you are like me five years ago, you probably have already seen these phones and wondered what the heck made them so special or “smart” in the first place. There are things you will notice in most smartphones. Of course the first thing is that they are phones which can make calls and text messages. The second most noticeable and standard addition is the camera. But the essence of these smartphones is the new improved operating systems that are based on systems designed specifically for handy phones.
These phones connect through 3G connections. The most important factor in smartphones is that they can function like the usual personal computer or laptop. You can watch videos, browse the internet, check and send email, type documents (preferable short ones since you won’t be able to type fast enough as compared to the garden variety smart notebook laptops).
Many smartphones contain windows as an operating system. This means that you won’t feel totally confused or lost because of your familiarity with the look, feel, and style of the operating system. Smartphones abound in the market today. So many new features and upgrades in every new model are produced regularly.
The mobile phone industry has experienced a significant boost because of this constant need of upgrades and tweaking whether it be in the processors, or the amount of memory, in the size and quality of the screen, in the operating system, or in the interface architecture.

Gifts For Teens
What Teenagers Want (It's Not What You Think)
First of all, teens want a lot of things: to have fun, to change the world, to be older than they are, and more. I'm not tackling that topic, This article is about what they want you to BUY them.
Second, I hate to generalize about "what teens want" because I remember too well what it was like to be a teen and how much I disliked being lumped into any category of people. It inevitably happened though. School was divided into jocks, geeks, punks, etc. ... there were socioeconomic differences within my neighborhood... if I wanted to go to college, I had to study hard enough to make certain grades.... and so it went.
Looking back though, even though I felt supremely unique and hated to be pigeonholed, I had to admit that I did have certain things in common with other teens, aside from just our age. I liked (and disdained) many of the same things "they" did.
So I am guessing the same is true today, that no matter how unique a teen is, most of them like to receive certain things as gifts.

Gifts For Teens
- Clothes. Male or female, the places to shop are Abercrombie & Fitch, Hollister, Aeropostale and American Eagle. Of course there may be some regional differences but overall those seem safe.
- Food. They mainly like it as a social medium. Get them gift cards or certificates for places they like to hang out and eat such as pizza, McDonald's, or any local place you know of. A pizza giftcard also means they can order in for their friends and be a hero for an afternoon.
- Gas. Nobody likes to pay for gas. Who wouldn't like a free tank?
- Music. If you don't know their taste, a giftcard to iTunes is a safe bet. Otherwise pick up their favorite CD.
- Electronics. You can go high-end and get an MP3 player or iPhone or for a bit less (or if they already have these things), get some accessories like memory sticks, docking stations, cell phone holders or charms.
- Freedom to choose their own gifts. That's why giftcards are really good to give--picking out their own stuff means it will definitely be all about them. Amazon.com is always good if you don't know the category of stuff they want.
- Videogames. I had to mention it but I think it's mainly a dude thing and this is really about teens in general.
